Something interesting about your childhood/background: When I was little my aunts and uncles nicknamed me "spark plug" because I was so hyperactive and couldn't sit still for very long.
Favorite family/cultural tradition: Three times a year all of my father's relatives gather together to honor my grandpa with a big ceremony during which they leave out food for his spirit and speak to him about their lives and how much they miss him. He died when I was little but everyone says that I look a lot like he did when he was younger.

Something interesting about your childhood/background: When I was young, my cousin and I wanted to be dolphin trainers. I also wanted to be a vet. Then I decided that I could be a doctor and then dolphin train on the side!
Favorite family/cultural tradition: Thanksgiving is not to be missed at my house. We host it every year, and the food is fantastic. My dad is an amazing cook. I also love the Diwali parties my aunt and uncle used to hold. My favorite memories from childhood.
Random fact about yourself: I never made it to the Shark level at the YMCA. I was at Flying Fish (which is the second to last level), and right as we started learning the Butterfly stroke, I stopped going. That's one of my regrets, never learning Butterfly correctly.

Something interesting about your childhood/background: My parents sent me on a plane to China when I was just 7 months old. I ended up spending the first 5 years of my life away from them.
Favorite family/cultural tradition: During one of my summers back in China, when I was in 6th or 7th grade, I told my grandparents that I really wanted to have hotpot, one of my favorite dishes that is usually eaten during the winter. It was an extremely hot summer that year, with temperatures in the 90s almost everyday, so we decided to compensate by turning on the air conditioning while eating hot pot. My grandpa thought it was really funny, but we all enjoyed it so much that we continue to "eat hotpot with the air conditioning on" every summer I visit.
Random fact about yourself: I am allergic to the adhesive on Band-Aids. Oh the irony.
