Ammar Mian
Ammar Mian is a senior in the College studying Modern Middle East Studies and Penn Masti. That’s about all you need to know, because Ammar is probably the most un-interesting man in the world. He’s the anti-Dos Equis. He’s the Breyer’s Vanilla Ice Cream of Penn’s APA community. Ammar’s favorite TV shows are Community, Wilfred, and Gossip Girl. Recently, with the mentorship of Sanjay Hariharan, he has spearheaded a grassroots effort to get Tyler the Creator to the White House. Plans after college? Given his black sheep status at Penn (he is a transfer student), Ammar will be spending another year in University City. Ask him about his “pickpocket in France” story.
Hadi Kaakour
Hadi Kaakour is a Senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, finishing up his last year in the Vagelos Molecular Life Sciences program. Though he is relatively new to the stand up scene, he is a veteran of situational comedy. He has performed at venues across Philadelphia, and is now breaking into other locales along the East Coast. Having acted in R-Train Uptown, look out for him in the upcoming online sketch show, “Eshuck Nowruz, the Adventures of an Iranian Chuck Norris: Walker Tehran Ranger”. He is also co-writing a sitcom, and producing hit records for a mixtape entitled Reverse Mondegreen. He hopes to pursue an MD/PhD after he graduates this May. Follow Hadi on Twitter at @MrTweetYoGurl
Jeffrey Cho
My name’s Jeffrey Cho and I am a sophomore in the College. I’m studying biology with hopes of becoming a pediatrician even though I’m not a huge fan of the sciences. As an instant ramen connoisseur, I like to keep at least 100 packs of ramen in my room at all times and I like to think of myself as the biggest Girls’ Generation fan on campus – so if Big Asian doesn’t work out, I’ll at least have that title. In my nonexistent free time, I like to cook, learn dance routines, watch TV shows like HIMYM, Modern Family, Running Man and Family Outing, and sleep.
Julius del Rosario
Julius del Rosario is a Senior studying Bioengineering. Hailing from da 4-1-0 (Baltimore, MD), he’s brought with him his love and passion for crabcakes and football (Go RAVENS!). On campus, you can see him everywhere: chillin/eating/cooking delicious food with the Penn Philippine Association; traveling and debating with the International Affairs Association; ballin with the Penn Club Baseball; or rockin his pinny, broin out at Phi Kappa Psi. Additionally, he’s a very good teacher and can teach you anything, but mainly the dougie. On top of that, his interest involved Call of Duty, eating competitions, raging, back massages and free food.
Stephen Ahn
Stephen Ahn is a sophomore in the College who STILL doesn’t know what his major is… He DOES know that he aspires to gain the bad reputation all lawyers seem to have. He’s a passionate member of PennSori, Penn’s best-looking Korean a cappella group, and loves to sing (Concert 11/11 & 12
)! He also loves to act and dance, with varying degrees of success, and has performed for Club Singapore and The Pan-Asian Dance Troupe! He is grateful at this new opportunity to perform and would truly appreciate a) your vote, and more importantly, b) that you have a good time. In his off-time, he likes to spend quiet fireside nights sipping hot chocolate with his fellow contestant, Lucia.
Geraldine Uy
I’m Geraldine, a pre-med Bioengineering major from the suburbs of D.C. Hobbies include softball, soccer, photoshop, playing bananagrams, and solving my Rubik’s cube. My guilty pleasure is pizza. Passions consist of eating and watching CAPS hockey. Anything from my Spring 11 APALI class to PEER to playing FIFA to doing the dougie will make me happy. My only true skills are laughing obnoxiously and giving free hugs. If I have any swag at all, it’s from PPA; if I have any class, it’s from Sigma Psi Zeta. And if I have any talent at all, it’s because I had to create one for this Big Asian competition that I somehow signed up for.
Kaileen Yeh
Hailing from the South, home of all things fried (including pickles), Kaileen Yeh is vying to be the next Big Asian, with the personality and talents to prove it. She is always full of energy and has a contagious laugh that can be heard from miles away and make anyone smile. When not in a lab or volunteering, she doubles as a superstar tennis player and expert cellist. She is excited to share her musical talents with everyone during APAHW and proudly reps Penn Taiwanese Society.
Lucia Xiong
This shortie hails from deep in the heart of Texas. You are most likely to find her near food, whether she’s cooking up her favorite Tex-mex dish, blogging about her food escapades, or om nom nom-ing at Manakeesh or Rx. Rumors of West Philly won’t stop this adventurer from trying new cuisine. If you ever see her around, introduce yourself because she loves nothing more than getting to know people! And trust me, you’ll want to know this fun, energetic, crazy chica, who is a lot more multifaceted than the stereotypical premed. She’s an international relations major, a champ on the Harrison Hitters volleyball team, a leader on the United Minorities Council board, and a dancer and choreographer on Pan-Asian Dance Troupe! What more could you ask for from this Penn junior?
Nancy Liu
Hi everyone! This is Nancy Liu. A girl born and raised in China, but lived in South Africa for the past ten years of her life. A girl obsessed with food, music, fashion and travel. A girl who is genuine. A girl who is warm. A girl who is passionate about life and all of its wonderful opportunities. A girl whose ultimate dream is to become a singer-songwriter and own/manage a record label like Haley from One Tree Hill (her favorite show), and own a cafe with homemade food and coffee cups/mugs collected from all over the world. Peace & Love
Thu Nguyen
Thu is a sophmore in the college. Her main passions are singing and dancing. She would like to assume that she is pretty good at both, but people’s opinions will differ! She is currently a member of PennYo, a Chinese a cappella group, and loving every moment of it.
